The marathon that makes me want to stop running.

The basics:

  • slowest marathon EVER.
  • three miles completely uphill. with no breaks.
  • twenty mile an hour winds.
  • forty six degrees
  • steady, heavy rain.

More details to follow. Needless to say, this was not my favorite. However I do have another 26.2 knot in my belt. That makes me smile. But really, that is it.

a little perspective, and also in honor of MLK day:

“The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.”
Martin Luther King Jr. (1929–1968) American civil rights leader Nobel Peace Prize winner

  1. See now, this should be the one that makes you realize you can handle pretty much anything!

  2. That sucks but you did it and that's an accomplishment, good for you and I really hope your next marathon is much, much better!

  3. Congratulations on another finish! I do have a question for you though. Mark just did his 1st 1/2 marathon in Houston on Sunday. He's considering doing the whole marathon next year but he's not sure about training. I told him I'd ask you. I think he's just wanting to know how many miles to run every day, what's the longest run you do before the marathon, etc.

  4. Wow, tough conditions! Later you will probably look back on this race and realize how much stronger it made you. Congratulations on your finish and best of luck on your 12 in 12 quest!
